Rebuilding Kiwanis Park

In case you missed the FRONT PAGE story in The Randolph Reporter in November 2013, here's a link http://newjerseyhills.com/randolph_reporter/news/kiwanis-park-on-the-mend-in-randolph/article_7a869c66-4702-11e3-8a93-001a4bcf887a.html    The article brought greater awareness to Kiwanis park and the efforts the community group has accomplished so far as donations have started to come in from families around the neighborhood and around town.

The total cost of the new required equipment is $38,000 minus $25,000 from the Randolph Open Space Budget leaves $13,000.00 to be raised. With help of the Kiwanis Club of Randolph’s, as of October, 31, 2013 an additional $1,000 was raised leaving a balance of $12,000 to be raised.

To help us raise funds, the Kiwanis Club will match all donations raised by our neighborhood dollar for dollar, up to $5,000!

In addition, the Kiwanis Club will be working with the K-Kids Clubs as well as RHS Key Club to help raise additional funds.  Preliminarily, Fernbrook K-Kids is hoping to have a fundraising event in March 2014.

To earn the dollar for dollar match, we need your help!  The immediate neighborhood has 135 homes. If every household was able to donate $55, the budget for the new playground would easily be reached.  Community spokespersons Ivy Guttman and Kim Trella note that this amount may be beyond some families means, they hope every household can donate something toward our community park to help obtain the remaining funds needed for the new equipment.

Not only does an updated neighborhood park provide a safe place for our children (or our children’s children) to play, it increases property values as well.
